Last year’s convention has come and gone. From the time the doors opened on Friday until the cleanup was finished on Sunday afternoon, the Elks Lodge was the scene of laughter, hugs, tears, shared conversation and good fellowship. We hosted guests from all over the USA and beyond. We renewed old friendships and made new ones. Perhaps some even got started on a sober life there.
The first committee meeting will be February 11 at 6 PM, where we will begin the process of planning this year's event, the 26th annual Santa Barbara Convention. Some committee members from previous years will be returning, but there will be plenty of positions to be filled, so if you want to participate in building this year’s convention, come join in the fun (click Participate for more information).
The second committee meeting (6 PM on March 11) will be an especially important one, because we will pick a theme. We'd like as many suggestions as possible, so if you have an idea for a theme, bring it to the next meeting, or give it to a committee member, drop it off at Central Office, or email chair@sbaaconvention.org. Themes must be a quote from conference-approved AA literature – hardcover books such as the Big Book, Twelve and Twelve, or Daily Reflections, not pamphlets. Please include the quote itself, as well as where it came from including the publication and the page number.
Bookmark this page and check back regularly for news updates. We’ll update the site as soon as information becomes available. Soon we will be lining up this year’s speakers, planning menus and coming up with ideas to make this year’s convention another wonderful experience for everyone. Don’t miss it.
